Resting

Hello friends,

I've taken a rest from this little blog.  As much as I love reading blogs and keeping up with them and writing thoughts in my own, my studies have overtaken me.

Currently, I'm studying for the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst, and no, that's not financial advisor) exam.  Actually, it'll be the first of 3 exams that I'll be tackling over the next 2 or 3 years before I can even hope to have the CFA title.  So I've been a little busy with that (first test is coming up in June) and have neglected telephone, e-mail, blogging and even facebook.

It'll be a while before I come out of my hibernation of balance sheets, income statements and z-tests, although I will remain a little better connected on facebook and by visiting your blogs.

Could you keep me in your prayers?  I'm still dealing with chronic pain, and am beyond tired of it.  However, my prayer request is not just for healing, but also for me to be able to pray about it myself.  To both trust God and have faith that He will heal me.  To even be able to bring it to Him, since I realized lately that I've been trying to avoid even thinking or praying about it, because I'm so frustrated.

Aside from the pain and all its accompanying frustrations, I'm doing very, very well.  God has been blessing us with wonderful friends and a great Bible study and a fabulous church and awesome times together.  I feel like I'm in a downpour of his blessings.

Thank you for all your prayers.

My MIL has some good stories...

My mother-in-law, Mary-Lynn, really has a heart for challenged kids (mentally and behaviorally).  And she's a great realist with such a great sense of humor that she just loves these kids and works with them and laughs with them and finds delight in the things they do and is wonderfully patient.

With that said, there are 2 fun stories.  Here's the first:

When she was younger (early 20s, married), she was super-petite, had very fair skin and dark hair, and often wore her hair in pigtails.  She spent time working at a camp for challenged kids.  It was a pretty big camp, big enough to attract the attention of the governor and/or similarly important statesmen.  So the governor (or some other big statesman) was visiting the camp with his entourage, and Mary-Lynn was leading the kids in some activity where they were all sitting in a big circle on the floor.  She was really getting into the game, or activity, and the big guy and his group were there on their tour, watching it all.

The statesman leaned over to one of the counselors leading the tour and whispered, "It's just so sad.  I mean, just look at that poor little girl over there -- she could almost be normal."

Yeah... He wasn't pointing at a camper...

So, this morning I was trying to explain to poor Keith why he has a sniffly, frustrated, sniveling, teary wife on his hands.  (Really, it's just because I'm a female, and the poor guy isn't used to the mysteries of feminine emotions yet, so he thinks the end of the world is near when I start to sniffle.)  All I could think to say was, "I'm just *sniff* fragile today."  Without missing a single beat, he smiled and sweetly said, "Naturally - the prettiest things in the world are fragile."

TOTALLY got husband points for that.

Oh yeah, and Apocolypto kicks ass.  There's no other way to put it.

Anniversary celebrations...

To celebrate our anniversary, my uber-cool Keith took me out to my favorite restaurant (Tandoor), although it was a secret until we were about a block away.  (What a faaaabulous surprise!)    After we stuffed ourselved sick on the best North-Indian food in the city we came back to The Room and exchanged gifts.  Since we're a boring old married couple now, we're going to have a nice, quiet evening of reading and movie-watching.  (I use headphones when I watch movies so I don't disturb him.)

You know what's funny?  I'm watching "Down With Love."

Yeah.  Last anniversary?  "Mr. and Mrs. Smith."

I think I have a sick sense of romance.

It's my 2-year wedding anniversary today!!

YAY!

And Keith and I will be celebrating by...going to work (me) and taking finals (him).  yay...

I can't believe that I'm already at the 2 year mark.  wow.
